I have some new lariat style necklaces for sale on etsy. They’re made of Lumina polymer clay, nylon-coated stainless steel beading wire, and various glass beads and pearls.
This a new technique I came up with. As far as I know no one else has tried it before, so I’m excited about it. I’m very happy with the durability of the clay and wire combination. I first start out with a length of the beading wire, and with crimping tubes, I attach shorter pieces of the beading wire to make loops, branches, etc. As I go, glass beads and pearls are added to complete the wire form.
Next, I mix a little paint into a ball of Lumina.
Then I begin carefully coating the exposed wire in clay. Getting an even coating of clay takes some patience and lots of rolling, but the clay sticks to the wire easily.
The last areas I cover are the joints made with the crimping tubes.
A little more clay, a little water, some smoothing, and it all comes together!

Hi Camille,
Thanks for your response! I’m thrilled to see your new necklaces up on etsy! I wanted to let you know, I’ve tagged you to share 5 random things about yourself on your blog. I know it’s a busy time of year, but if you’re interested, you can see “the rules” over at my blog - if not, no worries, I know these things circulate rather often!

Ingenious, delicate and very wearable. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
I like your brand new technique! There are a great deal of artistic possibilities ahead of you and those you teach. I have never heard of Lumina polymer clay before and naturally I am intrigued because I have never seen it at Jo-Ann’s or Michael’s craft store(s).I think your artwork is very unusual and contemporary!
