I also have this problem! It's been a really hot and humid summer here in Tucson, and every package I opened got moldy in about two days. Not wanting to waste any, I washed the mold off and hoped for the best. It smelled bad, and other than tinging the clay a brownish-pink color, it didn't really affect it much. It's probably pretty unhealthy working with moldy clay though.

Lately, I've been putting the clay, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, in the refrigerator. I haven't been doing this for long, but so far it seems to be working. I let the clay warm up a little before using it because it's hard as a rock when cold. Perhaps we need to write the manufacturers about this problem!

I just bought my first package of lumina clay. I used a little, wrapped the remainder in plasticwrap and put it back in the plastic bag. When I went to get it out about a month later, it had black and brown mold on some of the fiber strands. What is going on, do you know?

Hi Camille!
I like very much your pieces. I love the texture and flexibility of them. How you color the lumina clay?
Thanks and please excuse my limited English.
